What, you ask, is MILC? Well, MILC is...

  • the Madison Informal Linguistics Collective
  • the Madison Informal Linguistics Conference
  • the Madison Informal Linguistics Colloquium
  • the Madison Informal Linguistics.com
  • the Madison Insurgent Linguistics Conspiracy
  • a party masquerading as a conference, hosted by Joe Salmons & Monica Macaulay

MILC started in 1997 and MILC 10 took place in 2010. Each time we issue a call for papers and people submit abstracts in response, and then at the party we collect the abstracts into a "conference" program. It's the only party we know of where people spend the first 10 minutes at the party reading. The collected wisdom that is MILC is presented below (just follow the links for pdfs), for your enjoyment and edification.
